The Tourplan Fastbook module enables FIT bookings and quotes to be added, changed and deleted.
Quotations and bookings are handled almost identically in the Fastbook module. They are differentiated by the Booking status code applied to the booking and the rules associated with each status code. All quotes and bookings are simply defined as ‘Bookings’ in this document.
Fastbook is connected to the Tourplan Product Database to allow instant recall of products, costs, prices, availability, etc. Costs and prices are calculated automatically based on the travel date plus agent settings for each service line added to a booking.
Functions are available during the booking process, to print, email, or fax a range of Supplier and Agent messages as well as produce client documentation, including vouchers and itineraries. Invoices to Agents are generated directly from within a booking.
Tourplan (the system) makes no judgement as to what the difference is between an FIT and a Group Booking – i.e., when should FastBook (FIT Module) be used and when should GroupBook (Group Bookings Module) be used. Passenger numbers do not enter into it. The only rule that needs to be observed is that FastBook ignores any references in the Product Database Module to Escorts/Drivers/Guides, so if a booking being handled has any of those elements in it, then GroupBook must be used.
